There is not one silver bullet to eliminate mold. Mold remediation is a process, not a product. That process may include one or more steps: · Repair of construction defect permitting moisture/water intrusion · Containment of area or areas to be remediated · Dehumidification · Spraying of mold with a non-toxic fungicide/moldicide · Proper removal, double sealed bagging of deeply mold infested materials · Proper discarding of mold infested materials. · Wiping down of all walls, ceilings, floors and personal items with a non-toxic fungicide/moldicide · Repeated HEPA vacuuming · HEPA air filtration machines with built in UV-C germicidal lamps, not just an air scrubber used for asbestos which is not a living organism · Sealing of concrete, cinder blocks, wood studs with a mold inhibitor sealer. · Final Clearance Testing No mold remediation company can insure against lifestyle choices, construction defects, future moisture intrusion or mold introduced through furniture, clothing, etc. The closest thing to a guarantee is the JEM Environmental “Mold Maintenance Program”. JEM provides a mold maintenance program for all areas of the house or building that have been remediated by JEM. We will monitor the remediated areas every six months for a period of two years through visual inspection and sampling. The responsibility for reporting new leaks or moisture intrusion to JEM within 24 to 48 hours falls on the property owner. JEM will provide a quick response to prevent mold growth or the spread of mold growth. This program is transferable in the event the property is sold.
